Who we are
At Tide and Torrent Photography, our story began with a six-month journey across the breathtaking landscapes of the western United States. Armed with a Nikon Z6 II and a thirst for adventure, I set out to capture the essence of nature’s most serene and awe-inspiring locations. It was my first experience with a professional camera, and each national park and hidden trail became my classroom. The steep learning curve was challenging, but incredibly rewarding, especially when I found myself hiking off the beaten path to capture waterfalls and rivers that can't be seen from the road.
What started as a personal project to document my travels quickly evolved into a passion for landscape photography, particularly focusing on the tranquility and power of water. Friends and family began requesting prints, and what was once a hobby organically grew into Tide and Torrent Photography.
I believe that nature is full of awe-inspiring moments, and my goal is to share that sense of wonder with the world. Whether it’s the misty cascade of a hidden waterfall or the stillness of a mountain lake at dawn, my photography invites you to pause, reflect, and appreciate the beauty that surrounds us. Salt Lake City, Utah, with its abundance of waterfalls, streams, and lakes, holds a special place in my heart, serving as the backdrop for many of my favorite shots.
What sets my work apart is not just the locations I visit but the deep admiration I have for creation. I approach photography with spontaneity, often finding that my best images emerge when I least expect them. I love experimenting with neutral density filters and long exposure techniques to capture the ethereal movement of water, creating images that feel almost otherworldly.
Photography, for me, is about more than just taking pictures—it's about capturing moments that remind us of the beauty and wonder of the natural world. At Tide and Torrent Photography, I hope my work inspires you to explore, to appreciate, and to stand in awe of the world around us.
